All sorts of things

Saturday, 23 May

It is the largest exhibition of the Austrian light artist Brigitte Kowanz in Switzerland to date, the comprehensive show at Haus Konstruktiv. The audience gets a wonderful insight into a dematerialized art universe.

With the artist group ZERO, Otto Piene heralded the "zero hour" of art and conquered the spheres of the sky with spectacular light sculptures. Gigantic, breathing stars in red, orange, yellow, green, indigo and blue welcome the audience in the entrance hall of Museum Haus Konstruktiv.

Eugen Gomringer

Friday, 1 May 2020

Thursday, 23 April 2020

In Concrete Poetry, language represents itself. Letters, words and sentences become visual and phonetic carriers of form. An acoustic and visual image is created.

The minimalism of Gerhard Rühm captures in the atmgedicht only the sound of breathing as letter (h).

Karl Gerstner - Synchromie

Wednesday, 22 April 2020

Karl Gerstner (1930-2017, Basel) is one of the foremost Swiss graphic designers. As an artist, he developed a systematic language of colors and forms and pleaded for a correlation between art and everyday life and a functional and aesthetic design of the environment.

Gerstner studied design at Allgemeine Gewerbschule in Basel under Emil Ruder. In 1959, he and Markus Kutter founded the agency Gerstner + Kutter, which then became GGK with the addition of Paul Gredinger. Before long, the agency had become one of the largest advertising agencies of international renown in Switzerland. Gerstner left the agency in 1970 to focus on his art.
