Christian Herdeg – Lyrical Minimalism
curated by Sabine Schaschl
Christian Herdeg (b. 1942 in Zurich, lives and works in Zurich) has now spent over forty years devoted to the medium of light. As one of the first Swiss artists to have used fluorescent tubes, he is a pioneer of light art.
This retrospective solo exhibition at Museum Haus Konstruktiv, realized in close cooperation with the artist, presents important milestones in his unmistakable oeuvre, from the beginnings to the present day. The relationships between light, color, surface, volume and space are central to Herdeg’s artistic research, whereby his light installations show signs of an increasing tendency toward formal reduction and clear references to Minimal Art.
The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive monograph published by Wienand Verlag, Cologne, which includes articles by Deborah Keller, Daniel Morgenthaler, Sabine Schaschl, and Yvonne Ziegler (in German and English). Available in our shop.
