Imre Kocsis (1937–1991). He emigrated from Hungary to Germany in 1956. From 1958 he was a student and assistant at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the graphic artist, painter, and object artist spent several months in New York (MoMA PS1) and Amsterdam (Guest Studio of the Stedelijk Museum). Typical of his often mathematically-based aesthetic approach in his works on paper, paintings, and objects are the exclusive use of black and white and a visual structure that could be described as ornamental.
